Depok, LAMSAMA — In an effort to enhance the quality of higher education in Indonesia, LAMSAMA organized a socialization event on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, regarding the implementation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 53 of 2023. The event was specifically attended by professional associations, assessors, and other stakeholders.
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, M.Sc., Chairman of the Accreditation Council of LAMSAMA, emphasized the importance of this regulation in measuring and improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia. “We hope this socialization provides a detailed understanding of the procedures and implications of this ministerial regulation, especially in accreditation and quality assurance,” said Prof. Haris.
One crucial aspect of this regulation is the introduction of an automated accreditation mechanism, extended through monitoring and evaluation of the quality of study programs and higher education institutions based on data and information from PD Dikti. This mechanism allows the extension of accredited status for a specific duration without direct assessment by assessors, providing flexibility in administration and reducing accreditation costs.
Dr. Melania Suweni Muntini, M.T., discussed the direct implications of Permendikbud Ristek No. 53/2023 on LAMSAMA, including the accreditation process and related elements. “This is a step forward in simplifying the accreditation process while maintaining quality standards,” explained Dr. Muntini.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Drs. Ir. Mitra Djamal, IPU. ASEAN Eng., Executive Director of LAMSAMA, outlined the accreditation status and the automation process that will be implemented, “There are four accreditation statuses: not accredited, accredited, excellent accredited, and internationally accredited, each with its automation process.”
The presentation continued with Prof. Dr. Intan Detiana Muchtadi, S.Si, M.Si., explaining the accreditation process related to LAMSAMA. Prof. Dr. Muktiningsih Nurjayadi, M.Si., discussed accreditation instruments and bachelor’s supplements, while Prof. Drs. Roto, M. Eng., Ph.D. addressed accreditation instruments and master’s and doctoral supplements.
Dr. Muhamad Abdulkadir Martoprawiro, M.S., Ph.D. concluded the event by presenting the changes in LAMSAMA’s IT system in the transition towards automation. “This change will begin at the end of 2023, with continuous system improvements until the end of 2024,” expressed Dr. Martoprawiro.
LAMSAMA will commence with the addition of the New Study Program System PTNBH and the improvement of SALAM v.1.0 to v.1.6 in early 2024 before fully transitioning to the Permendikbudristek 53/2023-based system at the end of 2024.
This activity is expected to motivate all stakeholders to actively contribute to enhancing the quality of higher education in Indonesia. With collective efforts, Indonesian higher education is anticipated to be a key force in achieving the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045 (Golden Indonesia 2045).
