Depok, April 12, 2025 — The Independent Accreditation Agency for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) held an initial outreach event at its office in Depok to introduce the newly developed accreditation instrument to stakeholders. The event aimed to present and discuss the preparation of the updated Study Program Accreditation Instrument (IAPS) version 3.0, designed to meet both national and international accreditation standards.
The socialization was attended by members of the LAMSAMA Executive Board, Acting Chair of the LAMSAMA Accreditation Council Dr. Berry Juliandi, S.Si., M.Si., Acting Director of Learning and Student Affairs at the Directorate General of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Hasniah Aliah, M.Si., Deputy Executive Secretary of MIPAnet, and several faculty deans.
The event was opened by Prof. Dr. Iwan Sugihartono, M.Si., Acting Chair of the Accreditation Council, who explained that IAPS 3.0 is an enhancement of the previous version (IAPS 1.0) and is scheduled for official launch in July 2025. He emphasized the importance of active contributions from stakeholders in refining the instrument.
“We hope to engage in constructive dialogue and receive valuable input from all parties. LAMSAMA aims to not only serve as a national accreditation body but also to be globally competitive,” said Prof. Iwan.
The IAPS 3.0 instrument has undergone major restructuring, reducing the number of core criteria from nine to six: governance and quality assurance, education and teaching, research, community service, outcomes and achievements, and analysis and development planning. These criteria are designed to be interconnected and aligned with international accreditation standards as part of continuous improvement efforts.
Prof. Drs. Roto, M.Eng., Ph.D., Deputy Director of Accreditation, affirmed that LAMSAMA is on track to become a globally recognized accreditation agency, including efforts to gain full membership in the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE). He also highlighted the flexible accreditation periods now available for programs achieving “Excellent” status, depending on assessment results.
“In accordance with Regulation No. 53 of 2023, accreditation agencies have the authority to set accreditation periods. We now offer ‘Excellent’ accreditation valid for 1, 2, or 5 years, encouraging programs to strive for the highest level,” explained Prof. Roto.
During the discussion session, Deputy Director of Finance Dr. Dra. Melania Suweni Muntini, M.T., emphasized the need for detailed guidelines and supplements to ensure a more transparent and objective accreditation process. This sentiment was echoed by Deputy Director of Operations Prof. Dr. Muktiningsih Nurjayadi, M.Si., who noted that LAMSAMA has already completed one evaluation cycle for the 1-year Excellent accreditation and observed significant improvements in outcomes.
To close the event, LAMSAMA Executive Board Director Prof. Dr.-Ing. Drs. Ir. Mitra Djamal, IPU., ASEAN Eng., reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening its credibility and recognition both nationally and internationally.
“LAMSAMA is committed to being a credible and widely recognized accreditation body. We hope that IAPS 3.0 brings a fresh wave of innovation to higher education in the natural and formal sciences in Indonesia,” said Prof. Mitra.
Moving forward, LAMSAMA will hold more detailed outreach sessions specifically targeting Study Program Management Units (UPPS) and Study Programs (PS) to ensure full preparedness for implementing the new accreditation instrument.
