Surabaya, LAMSAMA – In an effort to strengthen professionalism, integrity, and team collaboration in the workplace, the Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) held a workshop titled “Building a Professional and Integrity-Driven Super Team at LAMSAMA.” The event featured Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Ahmad Rusdiansyah, M.Eng., from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) as the speaker, accompanied by Dr. Dra. Melania Suweni Muntini, M.T., a member of the LAMSAMA Executive Board.

The workshop, held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in VIP Room A at the ITS Central Cafeteria, Surabaya, aimed to equip LAMSAMA staff with a comprehensive understanding of the importance of building a solid, professional, and integrity-driven team, particularly in dealing with workplace dynamics and interactions with various stakeholders.

Workshop Atmosphere at LAMSAMA

In his presentation, Prof. Ahmad Rusdiansyah emphasized that working with diverse personalities and social styles requires each individual to have versatility in behavior and communication. However, this flexibility must still be framed by integrity and clear professional boundaries.

“The way to maintain good working relationships without compromising integrity is by setting boundaries or maintaining professional distance. Without these boundaries, risks include loss of objectivity, conflicts of interest, and a decrease in decision-making quality,” he explained.

He also warned that working without versatility carries significant risks, such as rigid communication, difficulty handling sensitive situations, and an inability to build human-centered workplace relationships. According to him, ideal professionalism is being firm but not rigid, adaptive in communication, elegant in action, and neutral and fair when facing complex situations.

Prof. Ahmad Rusdiansyah also presented the concept of interpersonal flexibility and introduced four social style types: analytical, driver, amiable, and expressive. These four types were explained based on two main dimensions: assertiveness toward others and responsiveness toward oneself. Participants were not only given theoretical explanations but also opportunities to identify their own types through reflection and tests provided.

“As an independent accreditation body, LAMSAMA is expected by many universities to be an institution with high integrity. One of the things that needs to be continuously developed is how these principles of integrity are truly instilled in LAMSAMA staff in carrying out administrative tasks and services,” said Prof. Ahmad Rusdiansyah.

He added that the discussion and workshop were expected to provide enlightenment on how to work professionally without compromising the integrity of the results.

Meanwhile, LAMSAMA Deputy Director of Finance, Dr. Dra. Melania Suweni Muntini, M.T., stated that this activity is part of efforts to update the capacities of long-serving LAMSAMA staff. “Updating LAMSAMA staff with the theme of building a professional and integrity-driven super team aims to ensure that each staff member fully understands their role and its connection to others. With this understanding, the teamwork built is truly based on integrity,” she said.

She also hopes that the workshop will have a direct impact on improving LAMSAMA’s service quality. “We hope that through this training, LAMSAMA staff will become more professional, able to work collaboratively, and ready to face stakeholders who interact directly with LAMSAMA,” she concluded.

LAMSAMA staff demonstrated their work results, which helped identify their personality types.
