Discussion between the Directorate of Institutional Affairs and LAMSAMA

Depok, LAMSAMA – In light of the operation of several Independent Accreditation Institutions (LAM), including the Lembaga Akreditasi Mandiri Sains Alam dan Ilmu Formal (LAMSAMA), the Directorate of Institutional Affairs conducted a visit to the LAMSAMA Office on Tuesday (July 19).

The visit was represented by Dr. Lukman S.T., M.Hum., Director of Institutional Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Ari Purbayanto, M.Sc., as a member of the BAN-PT Executive Board. The visit aimed to observe the ongoing accreditation process at the institutional level and engage in discussions regarding progress and challenges faced. In his presentation, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mitra Djamal, IPU., Executive Director of LAMSAMA, explained the accreditation progress at LAMSAMA. Currently, 40 Program Managing Units (UPPS) have SALAM accounts, with 25 being State Higher Education Institutions and 15 being Private Higher Education Institutions. “The number of study programs that have applied for accreditation through SALAM is 26, and the number of study programs that have applied for accreditation extension is 45,” Mitra stated.

Additionally, Mitra explained the various socialization and dissemination activities conducted by LAMSAMA at several universities in Indonesia, both online and offline. Responding to this, Dr. Lukman S.T., M.Hum., appreciated the activities carried out by LAMSAMA and emphasized the need for further socialization of accreditation information and payment details. “Information related to accreditation should be included on the website, not only in official documents but also in easily understandable summaries,” Lukman suggested. He also felt that the number of assessors at LAMSAMA was sufficient and suggested that the data on assessors should be presented on the LAMSAMA website for transparency.

Echoing Lukman’s comments, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ari Purbayanto, M.Sc., also suggested that assessors should focus on LAM in the future. He mentioned that LAM would open up recruitment for assessors to the general public, not just limited to BAN-PT assessors. He also appreciated LAMSAMA’s involvement in conveying information and socialization regarding government assistance for study programs applying for accreditation across all LAM.

“The policy for accreditation extension requests in LAMSAMA is also commendable,” added Ari. Through this visit, Mitra expressed openness to all feedback and appreciation for the betterment of LAMSAMA in the future. “We welcome all input and will strive to execute them one by one, ensuring a smooth accreditation process at LAMSAMA going forward,” Mitra concluded.
