Monitoring and Evaluation Activities Conducted by the Higher Education Accreditation Board (MA BAN-PT)
Depok, LAMSAMA — The Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Natural and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) welcomed a delegation from the Accreditation Council of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) for a monitoring and evaluation visit on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, at LAMSAMA’s office in Depok. The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to ensure the professional delivery of study program accreditation while strengthening institutional governance, accountability, and sustainability in accordance with applicable regulations.
The BAN-PT delegation was led by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Imam Buchori, S.T., Chair of the BAN-PT Accreditation Council, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Hendriko, M.Eng., a member of the Council, and Fajar Hidayat from the BAN-PT Secretariat. They met with LAMSAMA’s Executive Board Director, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Drs. Ir. Mitra Djamal, IPU., ASEAN Eng., and other members of LAMSAMA’s leadership.
During the visit, the Accreditation Council reviewed LAMSAMA’s performance in 2025, covering accreditation processes, institutional governance, resource management, and follow-up actions on observations and recommendations arising from the evaluation of LAMSAMA’s annual report. Discussions also addressed regulatory compliance and the implementation of nonprofit principles, transparency, accountability, independence, and impartiality.
Prof. Imam Buchori emphasized that monitoring and evaluation are essential to maintaining the quality of accreditation services while supporting the continued institutional development of independent accreditation agencies.
In terms of accreditation implementation, the BAN-PT Accreditation Council noted that LAMSAMA’s accreditation processes had generally been running well. This provides a positive foundation for LAMSAMA to maintain the quality of its accreditation services while further developing its institutional capacity in response to evolving higher education quality assurance policies.
A key topic of discussion was the continued strengthening of organizational governance to ensure alignment with applicable regulations, including BAN-PT Regulation No. 24 of 2024 on the Governance of Independent Accreditation Agencies and Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Regulation No. 10 of 2026. The discussion covered organizational structure, the roles and authorities of each organizational body, decision-making mechanisms, the conduct of Members’ Meetings, and institutional accountability. In response to these evolving regulatory requirements, LAMSAMA continues to review and refine its governance documents, including its Articles of Association and Bylaws, to support transparent, accountable, and sustainable organizational management. These efforts also aim to establish clear divisions of authority, promote objective decision-making, and ensure organizational continuity through leadership transitions.

“LAMSAMA views this monitoring and evaluation visit as a constructive dialogue through which we can review our achievements and further refine our institutional development plans. We are committed to following up on the input provided in a planned and systematic manner, while maintaining the quality of accreditation processes, strengthening accountability, and ensuring LAMSAMA’s sustainability as an independent agency committed to improving the quality of higher education,” said Prof. Mitra.
Beyond governance, the discussions addressed ways to strengthen financial transparency and accountability, including the publication of a financial summary on LAMSAMA’s official website. Enhancing staff competencies in financial management and strengthening sustainable funding sources were also identified as important aspects of institutional development.
In its ongoing quality enhancement efforts, LAMSAMA continues to strengthen its internal quality assurance system, develop accreditation instruments and information systems, and expand cooperation at both national and international levels. LAMSAMA’s full membership in the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE), preparations for an international review, and the initiation of cross-border accreditation cooperation are part of its efforts to broaden international recognition while further improving the quality of its governance and accreditation services. Through this monitoring and evaluation visit, LAMSAMA and the BAN-PT Accreditation Council reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting stronger governance among accreditation agencies, ensuring adaptability to regulatory developments, and advancing the quality of higher education. The input received will inform LAMSAMA’s follow-up priorities and support a focused, systematic, and sustainable approach to institutional development.
