Depok, LAMSAMA – The Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) has officially appointed assessors for the 2025 Study Program Accreditation Instrument (IAPS) 3.0, following a rigorous selection process conducted from May to July. This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening quality assurance for academic programs in the fields of natural and formal sciences across Indonesia.
The appointment of these assessors is a strategic move, as LAMSAMA is set to adopt the new IAPS 3.0 framework by the end of 2025, replacing the current IAPS 1.0. The shift in accreditation instruments requires updated understanding and competencies from assessors, necessitating the recruitment of a new pool of assessors equipped with comprehensive knowledge of the IAPS 3.0 system and assessment indicators.
The selection process began in May with an administrative screening phase, conducted alongside psychological testing in collaboration with the Institute of Applied Psychology at Universitas Indonesia (LPTUI). Candidates who passed the initial screening then participated in an online training held from June 12 to 16, 2025, which included both pre- and post-tests. Following the training, participants underwent the first mock assessment using the SALAM 3.0 system to perform Adequacy Assessments (AK). The second mock phase involved both AK and simulated Field Assessments (AL), based on LAMSAMA’s IAPS 3.0 assessment matrix indicators.

Out of 361 applicants, 188 candidates successfully passed the selection process. The successful candidates represent a diverse range of higher education institutions: 69% from State Universities with Legal Entity Status (PTNBH), 18% from public universities (PTN), 5% from religious-affiliated state universities (PTN Agama), 1% from government research institutions (PTKL), and 7% from private universities (PTS). Among those selected, 98 were returning assessors from the IAPS 1.0 scheme, while 90 are newly appointed IAPS 3.0 assessors.
The selected assessors also span a variety of academic disciplines, including Biology (24%), Biotechnology (3%), Physics (17%), Geophysics (1%), Geography (4%), Marine Science (1%), Chemistry (30%), Mathematics (16%), and Statistics (6%). The selection was based on pre-test and post-test scores, the quality of mock assessment results, and alignment with LAMSAMA’s accreditation criteria.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Drs. Ir. Mitra Djamal, IPU. ASEAN Eng., Executive Director of the LAMSAMA Board, emphasized the strategic role assessors play in maintaining and improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia.
“Assessors serve as the front line in ensuring that every study program meets accreditation standards. With a deep understanding of LAMSAMA’s systems and evaluation mechanisms, they can deliver accurate and constructive assessments. We expect our assessors to work professionally, with precision and a strong focus on quality,” he stated.
Prof. Dr. Muktiningsih Nurjayadi, M.Si., Head of the Recruitment Committee and Deputy Director of Operations at LAMSAMA, highlighted the importance of training in preparing assessors for their role.
“We aim to ensure that each assessor understands the systems, mechanisms, quality assurance frameworks, criteria, and assessment techniques, particularly under IAPS 3.0. With these competencies, assessors can provide objective, accurate evaluations that positively impact the quality of higher education in Indonesia,” she explained.
LAMSAMA also extended its appreciation to all applicants—both those selected and those not—for their active participation. The strong engagement from faculty members in the natural and formal sciences demonstrates a shared commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education.
