Kartowisastro, Ph.D., as Secretary of the Accreditation Council, and Novania Sari, S.E., as part of the BAN-PT Secretariat.

The Director of the LAMSAMA Executive Board, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Drs. Ir. Mitra Djamal, IPU., ASEAN Eng., opened the meeting session by presenting the latest developments in LAMSAMA’s accreditation process over the past year. He explained that the growing need for assessments has encouraged LAMSAMA to strengthen the assessor recruitment process.

In addition, Prof. Mitra emphasized a field assessment mechanism reinforced by the submission of question lists by assessors in advance to the Executive Board. This allows study programs to prepare data more effectively while ensuring that assessors provide comprehensive development recommendations.

“The assessor recruitment and assessment activities are carried out based on the continually increasing assessment needs. During the trial of the IAPS 3.0 information system, we identified several areas that require improvement, and these have been used as material for service enhancement,” said Prof. Mitra Djamal.

During the evaluation session, BAN-PT presented several important findings, including aspects of the code of ethics and quality assurance. BAN-PT requested that LAMSAMA explicitly state in its reports that no violations of the code of ethics occurred, and include a narrative regarding readiness to implement the IAPS 3.0 automation instruments in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation No. 53.

BAN-PT noted that although the regulation is still under revision, LAMSAMA should proactively prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs), instruments, and supporting information systems. This includes encouraging LAMSAMA to consult with relevant ministries regarding temporary accreditation funding and strengthening support for prospective assessors from Eastern Indonesia, who play a strategic role as LAMSAMA agents in providing guidance to study programs.

LAMSAMA explained that the development of IAPS 3.0 was carried out throughout 2024, and its supporting information system, SALAM 3.0, has been designed to accommodate accreditation process automation needs. The basis for preparing the annual accreditation plan was presented as a process referencing the validity period of each study program’s accreditation and national accreditation data, allowing assessor plans and assessments to be arranged more systematically.

Through this Monev activity, LAMSAMA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen institutional governance, improve the quality of accreditation services, and ensure readiness to implement automated instruments and systems toward IAPS 3.0.

Prof. Mitra Djamal closed the meeting by expressing appreciation for BAN-PT’s input.

“We are grateful for BAN-PT’s constructive feedback. All recommendations will be followed up to enhance transparency, accountability, and the quality of LAMSAMA’s accreditation services,” he said.

LAMSAMA hopes this Monev activity serves as a strategic step in building stronger, more responsive accreditation governance while reinforcing LAMSAMA’s role in supporting the improvement of higher education quality in Indonesia.

Depok, LAMSAMA — The National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT) conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) activity on the Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA) as part of efforts to enhance the quality of study program accreditation on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
