Depok, LAMSAMA \u2013<\/strong> Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Abdul Haris, a Professor in the field of Geophysics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FMIPA UI), and also the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at UI, was officially inaugurated as the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Diktiristek) on Friday (15\/03), at the Diktiristek Hall, Ministry of Education and Culture Building D Complex, 2nd Floor, Jakarta. He replaces Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN.Eng, who previously served as Acting Director General.<\/p>\n

The inauguration was presided over by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, B.A., M.B.A., and attended by various dignitaries, including UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro, IPB University Rector Prof. Arif Satria, S.P., M.Si., Ph.D., as well as vice rectors, university secretaries, and deans from UI. The decision to appoint Prof. Haris as the Director General of Diktiristek was based on Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20\/TPA of 2024.<\/p>\n

Anticipating the era of educational transformation in Indonesia, Minister Nadiem stated that the appointment of Prof. Haris as the Director General of Diktiristek is closely related to efforts to transform the Indonesian education system through the Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) program. This program has sent thousands of students to study off-campus, aiming to prepare university graduates who are globally competitive. Minister Nadiem hopes that Prof. Haris can continue to support and ensure the sustainability of the implementation of the Merdeka Campus program.<\/p>\n

Not only that, Minister Nadiem also revealed plans for the State Universities Revitalization Program to be held by the Directorate General of Diktiristek in 2024. This program aims to promote the improvement of the quality of state universities and accelerate the transformation of State Universities (PTN) into Public Service Agencies (BLU) and Legal Entities State Universities (BH).<\/p>\n

“I hope that Prof. Haris can lead the implementation of the program well,” he said.<\/p>\n

Before serving as Director General, Prof. Haris was the Chair of the Accreditation Assembly at the Independent Accreditation Institute for Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences (LAMSAMA). With his experience in accreditation, teaching, and academic leadership, Prof. Haris is expected to make a positive contribution to improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
